EMPRESS THEATRE.
The programme now showing at the Empress Theatre is one of all-round excellence and 'should suit all tastes. There are two features, "Squibs, M.P.," and "My Dad," and the supporting pictures are "Scareni Much," a Mack Sennett comedy, and the latest Pathe Gazette. In "Squibs, M.P.," Betty Balfour forsakes the familiar shawl and short Bkirts of her earlier pictures, and appears as a becoming and well-gowned young lady seeking ways and means of using the-windfall sho won in tho Calcutta Sweep, to her own and other people's advantage. Towering mountains of snow, frozen trails, gales, and leaden skies form a striking frame for the drama of "My Dad." As the heroic boy who fights his way through the bitter cold of frozen trails to remove the stigma of guilt from his aged father, Johnnie Walker gives one of the most brilliant performances of his career. Others in the cast include Rin Tin Tin, the famous screen dog, and Ruth Clifford. The supporting pictures are exceptionality strong. ' The Empress Orchestra plays delightful incidental music.
