On one side. <jf .their stall there is an exr. tensive showing of New Zealand-grown-lomons, which should make a' strong ap' peal to New These lemons are cured, graded, and packed by .the, Auckland Citron Growers' Association,, for which firm the growers' fruit and produce market act as agents in Wellington. ' This industry is fast becoming favourably known to the people of the Dominion, and, although only in its in-, fancy, 20,000 bushels of lemons were' grown under its banner last year, 13,000 bushels being graded as first-class. Great care is taken in the grading, and the lemons are placed in first, second, and third grade classes for distribution among the retail traders. The lower grades, rough' skins, are sold to the factories and utilised in the making of lemon squash and other purposes. The large thick-skinned lemons are in demand for that useful article peel, 70 tons were sold for this purpose last year. Though only a light crop, the output for this year will equal that of 1924, and the signs for next season show promise, providing the weather conditions are favourable, of practically double the crop. There is no doubt New Zealand' can grow all the lemons required by her people, the first and second grade being equal, if not superior, to those imported from Australia, New Zealanders should buy New Zealand-grown lemons, and thus keep; the money circulating in their own country, which naturally means more prosperity. There is a very fine display of fruit, nuts, and sunbeam .cider at this stall, and as the buying is' mostly done direct with the growers, the prices.are always right. The Growers'' Fruit and Produce Market make the first consideration that of quality. They specialise in the box trade for apples and pears, 40, 20, and lOpound boxes being in great demand. They are also Wellington District agents for Sunbeam cider, a very popular beverage, which contains only 'apples and sugar. Deliveries are made to city homes, and. to tha rail and steamer..
