"TOIA, TO PULL"

.WELLINGTON'S NEW TUG.

The tug—to be christened Toia, to pull—which the Harbour Board has accepted, under certain conditions, from the British Admiralty, will be the most up-to-date rescue boat in New Zealand waters, specially built for the work, powerful, thoroughly seaworthy, and fairly fast. During tho war a largo number of these vessels were built by the Admiralty and stationed at various ports round the English coast to be ready <it all times to rush out to vessels torpedoed or otherwise disabled by the enemy. For that work this special type of tug was evolved, a ,tug wflicli could undertake almost any class- of rescue work, in any weather. A detailed report upon the tug, the conditions imposed by the Admiralty, and also as to the floating crane to he purchased will be made to the board at its next meeting by tho. engineer (Mr. J. SlardibankA)..
