Acting on the suggestion of. thY Federal Prime Minister, Mr. Bruce.ihat the shipping' dispute is. now onai between the seamen and the employers^ a deputation which waited upon him decided .to seek direct negotiations with the shipowners. After a hurried meeting of th» Steamship Owners' Association, how« ever, a reply was sent to the deputation stating that in view of tll» fact that Mr. T. Walsh had publicly declared that "job control. is hem to stay," and this declaration, had been confirmed by the official journal of the Seamen's Union, the association considers it would be useless and improper to meet in conference any persons purporting to be representatives of the Seamen's, Union., ■
