MR. FRASER'S CORRECTION

to its rerroi.

Sir,—ln last night's "Post" Mr. Fraser takes me to task for allegedly making inaccurate statements. What I. said at the meeting referred to was that the Labour Party had (not has) an organised campaign of rowdyism in operation. I referred particularly to what has happened in Wellington Central. When Mr. F. Pirani contested the election he wae clenitd a hearing. A scientific system of rowdyism was adopted which prevented ■ bin > being heard.. When Mr. Sievviight contested ; the seat at the \mi election similar tactic* were pursued. , Mr. Sievwright could scarcely be heard owing to the uproar/ which prevailed. Mr. Fraser say deny that the Labour Party was responsible for this un-British conduct. Who,' then, were the culpriU? Not the Lilinral Party, and certainly not the 1 R;form Party, as witness the quiet hearing Mr. Fiaaer himself always enjoys when' contesting an election. In any case, if the Labour Party are not responsible for the unseemly behaviour at the meetings to which I refer, has Mr. Fraser or the Labour leaders ever publicly disavowed the tactics pursued by the disturbers of political meetings? As Mr. Fraser delights to "bow! out" what he calls "misrepresentation," I would suggest that a statement, published in "The Post" recently, has been overlooked by him. Here it is. (The article is headed, "Mr. P. Fraser and the 1.W.W.") :— It chanced that w« were just presented with a copy of too report of a "Unity Congress/ held in Wellington in 3uly, 1913. Wha'i appears in that report does not confirm the statement of Mr. Fraser that he opposed' the 1.W.W., but rather % reverse. On page 28 wo find it reported that Mr. HT Holland moved the adoptioo - of the I.W.W. preamble—holusbolus. It was seconded by Mr/ P. C. Webb. On page 23 wo learn that Mr. Remrdon moved an amendment to kill the "preamble," and amongst those who opposed Mr. Reardon in favour of the ' preamble," were Messrs P. Fraser. and P.H. Hickey.—l am, etc, JR. A. WRIGHT. Ist July.
