FURTHER ALTERATIONS REQUIRED ON MURITAI.

ihe, Muritai had only been used' during tho month of May for two harbour .excursions, stated a report presented to llio Eastbourne Borough Council last evening by Mr. J. 1?. Meuzies, the TovAi Clork. The Duchess carded 26,929 passengers, as against 30,723 for the same period Jast year, and the Cobar carried 22,328, as. agaiiist 21,625. With 294 carried on the Muritai this year, the total passengers carried was 49,551, as against 52,353 last year. The coal'consumed by the Duchess and Cobar totalled 151 tons, and the Muritai used 4 tons of oil.

Ferry receipts for May totalled £1250 14s sd, as against £1297 3s 9d last year. Tho largest amounts involved (last year's figures for the same month being in parentheses) were casual fares £3.53 3s 3d (£709 0s 6d), weekly tickets £163 lls 6d (£94 3s 6d), monthly tickets £96 4s (£94 6s), annual tickets £44 9s Id (£3O 4s 2d). Last year's total receipts included £200 transferred from Post Office Savings Bank.

Expenditure for May totalled £1443 9s (£1763 8s 8d), the chief items being administration £169 7s 2d (£146 19s 6d), Muritai £104 17s lid (£157 3s Bdj Duchess £399 9s 8d (£903 2a), Cobar £531 3s 2d (£399 10s lid), wharves and berthaga £98 19s 2d (£99 18slOd), advertising' £16 13s 6d (£l9 12s 3d), and rarta^e contracts £46 14s 5d (£2O 16a 4d). . .
