WELLINGTON'S CARNIVAL
WELCOMING THE AMERICAN FLEET. i The coming carnival period and welcome to the American Fleet, of which the Wellington Winter Show and Industrial Exhibition are the principal features, is now taking definite shape, and the Exhibition will be the means of the visitors getting a good idea of the extent of the primary and secondary industries .of the Dominion, while ' ar-
rangements are also being made to provide plenty of amusement for the visitors from overseas. So far as the Winter Show itself is concerned, nearly_ the whole space in the huge i;iew Pipitea Shed has now been allotted, and the lay-out of the building should enable the large crowds which are sure to visit it from all parts of the North Island to view the exhibits in comfort. Although it is yet early, entries are coming in well for the competitive classes, which close on 11th July. Quito a number of entries have been i-eceivcd from exhibitors at the National Dairy Show now being held at Palmerston North, including several makes of motor-cars and some of the best exhibits of field roots. The New Zealand Art Association has promised a very fine collection of pictures. During the first two days of the Show" the Wellington Kennel Club will hold its annual exhibition in an adjoining shed which will also house the show of the Wellington Poultry Association for the irrst three days, and'the live stock section will also occupy the same building from 6th to 14th August, No extra charge will be • made, for these, one ticket admitting to all parts of the show. J-hat there is bound to be plenty of amusement is evident from the fact that great difficulty is being found in finding accommodation for the number of side snows which have already applied for space During the last week of the bhow the Wellington Racing Club will ftold a special meeting at Trentham, having obtained a permit for the extra day, and the hunters' contests and sheep dog trials will probably take place in the same week. Those who wish to secure hckets for the art union, the prizes for which are alluvial gold are s;tu y afcthe^^«cLts'^i
