(REBTER'S TELEGRAM.)
LONDON, 25th May. An eloquent appeal to encourage the sentiment of Empire, whose bonds are "light as air yet strong as iron," was uttered by Mr. Baldwin in broadcasting ail- Empire Day message. He suggested that we must give the word "EmP"'e a n ew meaning, or substitute the title Commonwealth of. British Nations." He declared that we cannot be merely passive admirers of the Empire's achievement and promise. He deprecated the belittlement of the material side of the partnership. On tße contrary, all the members of the family ought to assist freely and ungrudgingly for the good of all. He expressed the opinion that the ambition of everyone should be to pay at least one visit to Britain overseas, and suggested a modification of the phrase "Know thyself" into "Know your Empire."
