OLYMPIC GAMES

(AGSTKAUAK-3CEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) AMSTERDAM., 25th May. Following on the decision of the Chamber of Deputies not to subsidise the Olympic Games, the national appeal has resulted in a greater part of the money required being subscribed. The Dutch Olympic Committee announces that it accepts responsibility for the Amsterdam Games.
A majority of the Dutch Parliament, mostly Conservatives, based their objections to the Games on religious grounds, contending that sporting demonstrations encouraged loose living and immorality, and also entailed a lot of Sabbath-breaking.
