KING'S THEATRE.
The story of picture-struck youth is contained in "Merton of the Movies," the main attraction at the King's Theatre this week. It is not long before .he is disenchanted, for he soon learns that the necessary qualifications lor an actor include more than a "desire to do better things." A pretty member of the "Buckeye Comedy Co." rescues him, and with her aid Merton obtains work. He thinks he is acting for a drama, but the producer has different ideas, and when Merton finds that his dramatic work has been used in male--ing tha most successful comedy of the year he is overcome with shame A reconciliation, however, follows. Glenn Hunter and Viola Dana take the leading parts. The programme includes good supports, and appropriate selections are contributed by the orchestra. "The ■Mad Whirl," an all-star production which will be shown on Friday next, deals primarily with the divergent views .of two families, one feverishly seeking pleasure and the other living a placid, well-balanced life.
