DRIFTWOOD REPORTED.
> .Tb?.r T{,l ion ComPany's tug Terawhiti, -which left Wellington yesterday morning to salvage the Cyrena, arrived at Wanganui late last night. The Marine Department has received a message from the captain of the Terawhiti stating that at 40deg. 28min. south latitude and 174deg. 52mm. east longitude he sighted a log approximately 40ft by 3ft in size. A number of smaller logs were also seen. Tha locality mentioned .is directly in the path of steamers going between Wellington and W a . nganui about 31 miles from Wanganui, and about 22 miles north of Kapill Island. Th»' logs are presumed to be driftwood brought' down by the rivers by the recent rains, and are considered to be a danger to small craft. (
