TRAFFIC DIVERSION
A KILBIRNIE IMPROVEMENT.
The Engineers' Department of the Corporation is at present busy v/ith the construction of a short length of roadway to take traffic directly from Kilbirnie crescent to the intersection of Onepu and Seatoun roads. At tho present time all traffic from Kilbirnie North, ITalaitai, and Kvans Bay for Lyall P>ay, Miramar, and Seatoun must follow the tram track past the Kilbirnie Post Office, and must negotiate rightangled corners before getting away on a clear run again. The new length of roadway will bo really a coulimiatimi of Kilhirnie crescent, running behind lhe post oflicu nl an angle direct to Oncpu road, cutting out, one bad corner for traffic via Seatoun road and two for traffic to Lyall Bay, and at the same timo relieving the congestion resulting from tram and vehicular traffic in front of the post office.
Some time ago the Corporation acquired A vacant section at the corner of Coutts street and Oncpu road for the purpose of rounding off the roadway and tram tracks as they turn towards "Lyall Bay, but this is a work still to be carried out.
