THE KUROW TRAGEDY
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST.

DTJNEDIN, Thiß Day.
The Coroner commenced an inquiry this morning concerning the tragedy near Kurov, involving the death of Olivo Jean Rutherford and Philip Richard Hudson.
Charles John Bell, a clerk, stated that he knew the deceased were keeping company. On 21st April he met Hudson, and went to his house. He knew Hudson generally had a pea rifle in his car, but did not see it on this occasion. They met Miss Rutherford, and set. out for Rutherford's place at Caversham, but changed their, minds and turned, back. Witness left the car in the' city and went home. The deceased appeared on the best of terms. Witness had no idea where they were going. Further evidence showed that at 9.30 p.m. Hudson bought a tin of pewol and a gallon of oil. The parties then seemed on good terms.
The inquest was adjourned to Kurow to-morrow evening, and further evidence will be taken at Oamaru on Wednesday.
