The United States, from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic. Coast, has sweltered under the first heat wave of 1925. Numerous cases of prostration are reported, principally in the MiiTdlo West, and there were two deaths at Nebraska. The temperature reached 94 degrees at Washington, - which is the hottest at this date fur fifty-six years. The thermometer rose 28 degrees in twenty minutes in that city, and 40 degrees in four hours in Milwaukee. There have been unusually heavy rainstorms in Minnesota and North Dakota.
