LODGE MEETINGS
The regular meeting of Loyal Newtown Lodge, M.U.. 1.0.0. F., was held on Monday, Bro. L. Dumbleton, N.G., presiding. One candidate was admitted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—1. P. N.G., Bro. L. Dumbleton; N.G., Bro. C. Bland ; V.G., Bro. Brown : and E.S., Bro. A. G. Wilson. , An invitation from Loyal Antipodean Lodge to meet them Dext month was. accepted. P.G. Bro. F. Taylor, P.P.G.M. Bro. J. S. Wiley, and P.G. Bro. H. J. Dormer were present to judge the lodge for the Steffensen Ritual Competition A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Bro. Thomas Bland, P.G., lato of Loyal Egmont (New Plymouth), and Loyal Newtown Lodges. The quarterly meeting of Loyal Antipodean Lodge, Manchester Unity, Oddfellows, was held on Tuesday evening, Bro. H. Dormer, N.G., presiding. Bros. J. S. Wiley, P.D.G.M., A. C. Blair, D.G.M., and F. Taylor, P.G., attended o!s judges in connection with Past Grands' Lodge, and examined the lodge in ritual work for the Steffensen Shield competition. All lodge officers gave an excellent rendering of their duties. Two new members were initiated into the lodge and Order, Bro. G. D. Beharrell, lecture master, delivering tho initiation charge. Election of officers resulted : Bros. A. Hunter, N.G.; A. V. Cooke, V.G.; A. Wainwright, E.S.; H. C. Hicks, warden; and B. H. Boys, guardian. The N.G. announced that installation and the entertainment' of members of Loyal Newtown and Kilbirnie Lodges would be held next lodge night. It was decided that medals be presented to the members proposing most new members during twelvs months; also that during May and September the lodge would meet at 7.30. An invitation was received from Loyal Brittania Lodge to attend a social evening on 2nd June. Bro. Mullon, P.U., from New Plymouth district^ was accorded a hearty .vote of thanks for services rendered-during the last six months, and lodge honours were accorded to Bros. Langley and Wiley, P.D.G.M.'s, and Bro. Craddock, of the Westland district.
The quarterly meeting of Coronation Lodge, No. 26. U.A.0.D.,. was held in St. Thomas' Schoolroom last Tuesday, A.D. Bro. Rowlands presiding over a large altedance. Among the visitors present were G.P. Bro. Price, D.P. Bro. Noad, D.P. Bro. Mawhinney, P.D.P. Bro. Johnston, P.A. Bro. Martin, and P.S. Bro. M'Lauchlan. The judges of the 8..A. Chapter, P.D.P. Bro. Whiteford, P.D.P. Bro. Kearney, and P.A. Bro. M'Comish, were also present for the purpose of judging the lodge in the ritual competition. Reference was made to the death of the late Bro. Mines, members standing in silence as a. mark of respect. The nomination of officers took place, and officers of the lodge then competed for tho Royal Arch Chapter Ritual Shield. Bro. Kuch officiating lit, the piano. P.S. Bro. M'Lauchlan addressed brothers on tho proposed hospital scheme, and, after a leritxthy disensj sion, it was decided to adopt same.
