DETONATOR EXPLODES

WAIHI, 23rd May. As the result of tho explosion of a detonator three members of James Kemp's family were more or less injured. On his way homo from work at the Waihi Gold Mining Company's smithy, Kemp, junior, picked up a detonator, and decided that it might be used for a bicycle lamp. To make it fit ho commenced beating it out, and an explosion followed. Kemp's little finger was blown off, and he was peppered on tho chosfc by Hying metal. His sisters, aged 18 and 11 yours, -who were close by, were tho other victims, the elder receiving wmnds in the side and arms, while the oilier had an cvg badly ■injured. ""
