KING'S THEATRE.
Merton of the Movies," is the main attraction at the King's Theatre this week It k the story of a moviestrnck youth whose one great desire is to do "something better and finer" than merely helping in a grocer's shop As an assistant he is useless, and after a sensational horse ride rou^d the village church on Sunday morning ha is discharged and with bos savings in his pockets turns his face towards movie land. It is not Ion? before he ia disenchanted, for he soon learns that the necessary qualifications for an actor include more than a "desire to do better things." Through inexperience he misses a chance, and it is not long before he is in straitened circumstances. Ultimately a pretty member' of the "Buckeye Comedy Co " rescues him and with her aid Merton obtains work. He thinks he is acting for a drama, but the producer has different ideas, and when Merton finds that .his dramatic work has been used in making the most successful comedy of the year ho is overcome with shame. A reconciliation, however, follows. Glenn Hunter and Viola Danna take the leading parts. The programme includes good supports, and appropriate selections are contributed by the orchestra.
