PORIRUA SCHOOL
The adjourned annual meeting' of householders was held last week in the Porirua school. Mr. E. Windley prosided over a large, attendance. The report of the year's working made most satisfactory reading, and showed the school to be in a very sound position. It ia expected that the extra playing area secured by the board will soon be available to the committee, which will then be enabled to put it in order for the use of the children. There had been several improvements made in the school during the year, but those present expressed the opinion that much was still needed, particularly improvement of the water supply and drainage. The question of the standardisation of school books was again introduced and favoured by the meeting. At the- election of the committee Mr? E. Windley informed the meeting that owing to various reasons he would not be a candidate. Mr. W. B. Hicks spoke of the regret of householders at Mr. Windley's decision and of his thirteen years' continuous service on the committee. During that long time hs had devoted a great amount of time and energy to improve the school generally, and it was decided to place on record the •appreciation of householders. The election of the committee for the ensuing year resulted:—Messrs. W. B. Hicks (chairman), A. W. Kennedy. R. Youn" J. Garner, and P. Stewart (secretary) 0'
