MELBOURNE, 23rd May. "" In dull, showery weather, England defeated Australia by 5 goals to nil. There was an attendance of 12,000. Play was fairly even in the first. half, but England's superior training gave them an advantage in the closing stages. The score at half-time was England I, Australia nil. The goal scorers were Spencer, Timms, Hannaford, Batten, and Seymour. The Australian goalkeeper Robinson was excellent. Rain affected play during the latter part of: the match.
