EXHIBITION OF SKETCHES
The annual Sketch Exhibition of-the Academy of Fine Arts, now' open in the Art Gallery, Whitmore street, continues to attract large numbers of visitors, and many of the works shown have already found purchasers. While the council has been criticised for hanging some half dozen examples of ttonbtful merits it is generally admitted that the, collection as a whole, comprising come hundreds of sketches from all parts of New Zealand, is superior to anything of the kind yet shown in Wellington. Their Excellencies the Governor-General and the Lady Alice Fergusson have signified their intention of visiting the gallery this week. The exhibition will close on Saturday next. ,
