Curiosity as the mother of invention appears to have been very much in evidence in Wellington lately, as many wits have been set to work in making mascot costumes and hats for the ';Good Luck Ball" which is to'be held iv the Town Hall and Concert Chamber on Wednesday evening next in aid of the Community Club funds. It has been , reported, to the executive from many quarters that, the idea of a mascot ball as something novel has certainly "caught on," and that many strikingly original costumes emblematic of "good luck" will appear on Wednesday evening. For the lady wearing the best mascot dress a gold wristlet watch will be given, while special prizes will also 'be awarded for the best mascot hat for ladies and the best mascot hat for gentlemen. .In addition, novelty caps will bo on sale in the hall, anil the lady or gentleman .securing the winning number will be handed a special prize. The decorations -will be in keeping with the spirit of "good luck;" and the music provided will be of the best, both of Tutschka's orchestras having been engaged.
