TRAM CONDUCTORS.
_ "The practice of tram conductors being m any part of the car, except the. back platform, and pulling the cord for the rear bell to hurry the public to board the tram ought to come to an end," writes "Protection." "Recently a lady with a baby in her arms and a little girl by her side tried to board the car. She put aboard the little girl, who walked inside tlje car, and the lady had her foot on the step, when this bell rang. The woman screamed for the little girl to come off the car, and a young man, sensing danger, lifted the child out of the car just as it drove off. There was no doubt plenty of time for the lady to board the car, but she was so unnerved by this practice of the bell going. I will leave this to the city tramways to decido what to do."
