LORD PLUMER'S APPOINTMENT
(AUSTSALIAN-NtW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.)
(Received 22nd May, 2.30 p.m.)
\ ■ LONDON, 21st May. The Palestine correspondent of the "Morning Post" etates that Lord Plumer'a appointment has given satisfaction in non-Zionist circles, as it ia anticipated that it presages a modification of British policy in connection with the establishment, of a Jewish national home. After the Earl of Balfour's visit to Palestine and Syria 120 members of the House of Commons, belonging to the middle east group, became active and came to a. conclusion that a modification of policy was essential in order to placate Arab resentment. - This consideration bo impressed Ministers that Lord Plumer was offered the post, and will seek a greater measure of Arab co-opera-tion.
