PRESENTATION TO MR. H. MAINLAND.

In token of the esteem of their appreciation • of. his services on their beJialt during a period of ten years, members of the Wellington Master Builders' Association made a presentation of a gold watch to Mr. H. -Mainland, es-pre-sident of the -association, last night Mrs. Mainland was presented with a silver tea, service.

Mr. W. Parkin, president of the association, referred to Mr. Mainland's activities during the trying period of the war, when he acted in various important capacities. In addition to being president of the association for ten years he had been president of the New Zealand Builders' Federation, president of the Employers' Association, a member of the cement committee, and of the railway committee, which undertook the distribution of essential needs durine the war. b

Mr. W. Mills, vice-president, in presenting .the tea service, referred to the home sacrifices made by Mrs. Mainland while her husband was so busily occupied on the builders' behalf. Messrs. A. Fletcher, A. M. Wilson, W. A. W. Grenfell, and C. G. Johann also paid tributes to Mr. Mainland's work and qualities. The recipient .feelingly thanked the members for their gilt, declaring that all he had done was in the interests of the builders and the general public. He thanked them also for the assistance and support accorded him while he had been in office;
