REPORT OF GOOD WORK.

It is the custom of the Ladies' Christian Association, the Alexandra Home Committee, and tho Levin Home Committee to hold their annual-meetings on the same day, add at the- same place, and as the work is on altruistic and Christian, lines, with a number of the same workers, a saving of time and effort is made. Mr. IT. W. Korsloy presided at the meeting held yesterday, and in the report of the Ladies' Christian Association it was stated that more helpers were needed for the Dorcas work. The Boot Club was not so flourishing as formerly, owing to mothers buying boots at jumble sales. During tho year 24 new garments were received and 584 old ones, from the Two-garment Society 90 new ones and 60 old; garments given out were; New 195, old 507, 'blankets 6 pairs, material 53 yards. Material was also bought and made up into garments. Thanks were extended to all who had assisted the association. The retiring trustees, Mrs. Corkill, Messrs. Kersley and Izard, were.re-elected. The retiring members of committee, M jsuames Lee, Wilson, and' Mrs. .M'Kerrow, were re-elected; also Mrs. Waddell was elected president, and in her place as lion, secretary Miss Harrison was elected. The balance-sheet showed expenditure of £179 12s 3d, with income of £781 18s 3d, including balance of £627 0s lOd.from last year. LEVIN .MEMORIAL HOME. The twenty-ninth annual report of the above home stated that there were 29 girls in the home, whose ages range from four to sixteen years. With the exception of the three eldest, who are being trained in housework, the girls are all attending school. During the year two left to return to their mothers, two have gone to situations, and eight havo been admitted to the- home. The T. G. Macarthy Trust grant of £150 was used to make much needed additions to the home. A warm tribute was paid to all who have helped the home, special mention being made of Dr. G. Kemp, and the work of the matron, Miss Jolly, who resigned and recently left for England. The retiring members of the committee were reelected. The balance-sheet showed rei ceipts totalling £1124 ss, exclusive of a ; balance of £205 5s 2d, and expenditure of £1197 15s lOd. ALEXANDRA HOME. Mrs. Corkill, president, read the report of the Alexandra Home, which stated that the number of patients (both single girls and married women) cared for during the year has been about the same as in the previous year; that tho plans for the now hospital havo been completed and are now under consideration, and there is every reason to expect that tenders for the erection of the building will shortly be called for. At both half-yearly examinations in 1924 all the Alexandra ■ Home nurses (twelve in number) passed— most with honours. Tribute was paid to the work of Miss Stewart, manager of the home, and Miss Morgan, the matron, and Dr. Corkill. The year's statistics are as follow:—Admitted—married 100, single 52. Births: Male. 80, female 68. Deaths: Infants 1, maternal nil; cases attended outside the home,. 119; infants adopted into good homes, 5; infants taken with mothers to situations, . 10; infants taken with I mothers to own homes, 14; infants board- i ed in licensed homes, 10; infants boarded -in: Homo "of -Compassion; 3- infants committed to the State, 2;-infants stillborn, 5; situations found for girls 35----girls married to! fathers of children 4 • girls married to others, 5. The balancesheet showed expenses totalling £1905 15s 4d, and receipts £1881 ll s lid; not .included in the balance brought forward from last year of £232 lls 4d.
