SECOND DAY AT WANGANUI

LATEST FROM "VEDETTE.*

(BX HXEGKAPH.—SPECIAL TO THE POST.)

WANGANIH This Day. It has continued raining hard, and the tracks will be very heavy to-morrow, even if the weather clears. For all that, the second day's acceptances are good, averaging nearly twelve a race.

A round dozen are left in the Grandstand Steeples, all of whom started yesterday except Puwhero. Form points to Master Peter and Tuki, but Passin' lnrough will be improved a good deal by his race.

In the May Hurdles, Te Kawa, Comical, and Black Art appeal, but Nukumai, if fancied by the right people, is sure to run well.

The biggest field o£ the day is likely in the Rata Hurdles, including Taitaiata Glen Canny, and All Wind.

Fool's Paradise-reads well in the Empire Handicap, but may. be troubled most by Sunshot and Valencia. ■ There may be a surprise in the Winter Oats. Archeen. reads well, and the lightweights Lipsol and Kuhio are possibilities, and the two hack races should provide good contests, Rowley, Eing Potoa, Eangi Sarto, Tempean, and Willow Wai seeming well placed.
