PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

Superstition has played an important role in solving nlany mysteries, and this is particularly true in the photoplay, "The Kingdom Within," commencing at the Paramount Theatre to-day. Emily Preston, a girl whose brother has been sentenced to die for a murder that was committed by Krieg, the lumberjack, discovers the real murderer and saves her brother by playing on the superstitious fears of Krieg. Krieg is naturally superstitious, and with the added weight of a murder on his conscience he falls an easy prey to all sorts of direful forebodings. A strong cast of players, including Ernest Torrence, Pauline Stark, Gaston Giass, and Russell Simpson, interprets this well-known story by Kenneth B. Clarke. The supporting programme includes comedy, scenic, gazette, and an exceptional musical programme by the Paramount Orchestra. The box plan is at the Utility, next to theatre. "Name the Man!" a screen drama of great emotional intensity, will be screened next Friday. The picture is from the latest novel by Sir Hall Came, "The Master o: Man," and follows the original story faithfully. Mac Busch, as Bessje Collister, the girl who is ejected ! from her home by a brutal step-father, and is wronged by the youthful Judge, rises to what is considered her greatest emotional piece, of acting. Conrad Nagel, as the youthful Judge, gives a very finished performance, and a large cast supports the principal players admirably. The story is set on the tiny Isle of Man, off the coast of England, and is fully as 'powerful a novel as "The Christian," Sir Hall Caine's best known novel..
