MOTOR ACCIDENTS
A motor accident which nearly had serious consequences occurred at John street about 6 o'clock last evening, when a motoi--car driven by Mr. William Wells, of Lyall Bay, collided with a tramcar. By good fortune Mr. Wells and his three children, who were also in the car, escaped uninjured. Mr. Wells was driving up Adelaide road, and when he reached John street, he found a mo-tor-car and a motor-cycle stationary on the left side of the road. He turned his car outwards, and in doing so ran on to the downward car line, colliding violently with a tramcar travelling towards the city. The impact was severe, turning the motor-car upside down, and pinning the occupants underneath, but they were uninjured. The tramcar was slightly damaged. , A somewhat similar accident occurred in Manners street about 5 o'clock on Wednesday evening, when a motor-car driven by Mr. J. Walker collided in broadside manner with a tramcar. Mr. Walker, who was the sole occupant of the car, received a number of slight abrasions. The body of his car was wrecked.
