4QG QUEENSLAND

On this roof are being erected the additions to house the whole undertaking, which will be under one roof. From an imposing entrance to the mam building, a direct elevator service connects to a vestibule which leads to the mam reception hall of the station. Two studios, one a largo one and the other small, open out from the reception room, and the main control room for the station is situated at the rear of the two studios and runs the full length of both. Behind the main control room is the station proper, the two rooms being placed in such relation to each other that, the engineer on duty may, from his seat in. the station, command a clear view of the whole of the apparatus in use. and the whole of the building is ventilated by a special system. Artistic and adjustable drapings will he fitted throughout the studios.

The aerial system will be supported by two 100 ft four-legged light steel towers, to be erected on the roof of the building, and 4QG, when in operation, will transmit on a wave-length of 385 metres with a power of 5000 watts.

The Queensland Government is opening a Radio Information Burea in Brisbane. This will be located in the same building as that on- the roof of which the station will be erected. At this bureau any inquiries regarding apparatus or regarding the broadcasting service may be made. Such a general inquiry office should be of the utmost utility to listeners-in, and should result in a saving of much of the time of the station staff.
