DUNEDIN, This Day. The Dunedin Chamber of CommeYce after considering a report by thb Imports and Exports Committee, decided that, haviug regard to. the unsatisfactory position of trade in tireat Britain, and the possibility of lower pi-ices next season for our staple exports,, all traders are recommended to exercise caution in respect to forward commitments.' This applies more particularly to imports and especially to -indents for luxury goods. For the year ending 31st March last, the value of our exports was £54 - UhPSHi ile ,our.imP orts amounted to £49,821;000, showing an apparent balance of trade in our favour of £4 950 000; bub agaihst this we have to make payment for overseas interest amoitlitihg to about £6,000,000, so that ih reality the balance is against us There has been-a-certain amount of over-importa-tion during the last 12 months, which it is very desirable to avoid in future in y?e.w.?i °j6 changing conditions of British industry, shrinkage'of British trade balances and Ihfe adverse-condition'df tho Lond&n ffionry market.
