POLLS IN QUEENSLAND.*^

BRISBANE, 18th May. . Local option polls were held in forty* three areas. In twenty-five, extending from Gympie southward, the-'issue '•■ was Prohibition. In the remainder, in various parts of the State, the issue- was' whether new licenses should be granted.' In all the areas except three, the "wetsi'r secured a majority, and in those three 1 the "dry" majorities were'nbn-effectiva owing to their not reacKtng the necessary, three-fifths of the total vote. ■ Soni^ returns are incomplete, but the result'if not likely to be altered.
