Councillor Watkins stated that matters in connection with the buses and drivers would have to be faced. Councillpr Meldrum reported that the new fire engine had arrived, arid under Superintendent Tait, of Wellington, a test had been made with very satisfactory results. Councillor Watkins said lie was present at the test, which wa3 very satisfactory. The fire plugs \ver» not satisfactory, and Ijo moved that the matter be referred to the engineer.—The motion was carried.

Councillor Watkins brought up the matter of the riding of bicycles on the footpaths, and without lights at night. The practice was very bad in the borough, and should be stopped, as it was a danger. Councillor Mitchell said cyclists should be compelled to carry bells on their bicycle*. \
