In the first round eames of the European zone of the Davis Cup, in the singles: Gordon Lowe (England) beat Foerster (Poland), 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. J P. D. Wheatley (England) beat W. Szwede (Poland), 6-2, 6-0, 60. Britain thus won their series by 5 games to nil. England \no\v meets Denmark in the second round. Lowe's victory represents a Davis Cup record.
