RIVERS STILL IN A DANGEROUS ' state:
(EI TELEGRAPH.— PRESS . ASSOCIATION.) . TAUMARUNUI, 16th May. * • llus morning the AVanganui River fell three, ieet and the Ongarue River four leet below yesterday's flood levels. The livers, however, are still in a dangerous state, and the river-boat was again unable to-depart. Many wash-outs are reported,; one on the Otunui road being 50 at -Vl t Snd, 20 feet dee P- - Air J. M'Cann, n borough employee, ImA to vacate his house, situated near lanngamutu, as it was surrounded by water Damage was done to Messrs. Ellis and Burnand's tramway leading to tno Ungarue mill; and bridges were also seriously damaged. The estimated damage in the Ongarue area totals £1000.
