PRIVATE BUSES
There are many rumours in the city to tho effect that "next week" or "tomorrow," or on some other date in the very near future, the city is to be more or less flooded with private 'bus services running in direct opposition to the municipal tramways. Those rumours begai^ some months ago, but "next week" is still ahead, so is "to-morrow. One statement is that' one company is now building twelve 'bus bodies in Wellington ; and possibly there is some foundation for it, but so far the traffic office of the City Corporation knows nothin« definite o{ this deluge. An application has, however, Been received in- respect of a 'bus to run at Eastbourne, and another for permission to run a fleet of 'buses to Khandallah, which, is already served by a 'bus service, running at hourly intervals, and apparently doing brisk business. The first of the council's 'buses, should be upon the road very shortly now. The slogan of tho Tramways Department where "buses are concerned is, "Get in first." - ' •■
