A NEW LIGHT
ON MATAKAWA POINT. (BF TELEGRAPH.—PtIESS ASSOCIATION.) • AUCKLAND, This Day. A now automatic unwatched flashing light is tD be installed on Matakawa 1 omt. Hicks Bay. The Tutanekai landed tho material for the work last week. The light will bo about 15 miles west, of the East Cape, and about 11 miles west of I-loroera Point, where the steam-" er Port Elliot was wrecked in thick weather on 12th January, 1924. The land in the vicinity of the East Cape is often obscured by fog and mist. The light will enable mariners to check their position before reaching the East Cape, where the course of south-bound vessels is altered.
