INSTITUTE BEAT WATERSIDE.
Playing at Kelburn against Waterside, Institute had a lead of four goals, when, owing to heavy rain, the captains of both teams decided to cry the game off. The game was not as even as the score would indicate, for, from the kick-off, Waterside pressed hotly, and took the •game up to tbe opposing goal. It was only a momentary attack, for Institute rallied, and turning the tables on their opponents, made a sally which ended in a shot at goal. ■ Watersiders were showing good combination, and went up to the Institute goal again, but the defence was sound. Good wing play and passing among the forwards found Institute forcing the Waterside goal and there were several, anxious moments betore the ball was cleared. White who was playing on the wing for Waterside, got away smartly, and after a fine run, tried, to goal. Watersiders ir-ain-tamed the pressure, and a swift si ot from one of the forwards narrowly missed the post. Institute conceded a corner, but the wind carried the ball wide and it bounced high over the cross-bar' the result of a poor attempt at eoaline made by a forward. In the next few minutes Institute were called on to defend their goal strenuously, and they conceded.two corners. White was prominent, and worried the Institute goalie considerably with good shooting. Smith the Institute winger secured, and gave the forwards a chance with a good pass, * wen. followed by combined work led to Gill scoring. Just after the kickoff, Rustorholz transferred to Smith who Repeated his tactics, and threw the ball into the forward line. The opposing Waterside back slipped on the greasf ground, and Gill again scored. Tne Institute wing fed the forwards well, enabling them to keep close up to the net. Watersiders were penalised, but the goaile stopped the ball remarkably well Waterside cleared and combination among the forwards gave a chance to Jenkins who sent the ball between the posts Institute 2, Waterside 1. In stitute s- third score was registered shortly before half-time, Gill-finding the net during a scramble around the posts. In the second half heavy rain made football difficult, and although Jenkins was & W CC fCSS- lj' ln SC,°rinS on two occasions Waterside could not make the points level Jeffery scored twice to Instate..
