DE LUXE THEATRE.
The acting of Pauline Frederick in' 'Smouldering Fires," showing on the new programme at the De.Luxo Theatre, is one of the finest performances of this talented player, who is at present visiting. As Jane >ale, she lias a difficult and poignaut role, and one that earns the sympathy of the audience oven if some do imagine she was only a foolish woman. Miss Frederick receives splendid support from Laura Ui Plantc. whose emotional acting is entirely satisfying. The remainder of tho cast is good, and includes many notablo screen actors. The climax is a splendid one, and reveals a woman's selfsacrifice, bringing the story to a conclusion entirely satisfying to tho audience. The supporting films include an international News and a laughable comedy. As usual, the music by the Do Luxe Orchestra is a prime feature of the programme.
