EMPIRE THEATRE, ISLAND BAY.
The new Island Bay picture house, to bo known as the Empire Theatre, will open on Saturday with "The Last of the Duanes," a famous story by Zane Grey. Tom Mix, with Tony, his horse, appears in the leading role, and is supported by well-known players. ' The story deals with Young Duane, whose father was a famous Texan gun-fighter. The lad promised his mother that he will not use a firearm except in self-defence, and it is for this reason that he accepts without protest the insults heaped upon-him by Cal Bain, an outlaw. There is an end to all things, however, and one clay Bain publicly insults young Duane to such an extent that the boy is forced to kill his tormentor. A splendid supporting programme includes many -pictures of interest.
