TRENTHAM TRACK NOTES

It was'cold but fine at Trentham this morning.- The tan and'-trial grass gallops were open, and some very good work was done.

As customary, J. Lowe's team was tlie first stripped, and before it was properly light Assert was given strong pace work on the tan, and Laughingstock a similar task on the grass, in addition, being' sprinted up the back. . Matin Bell, going freely, covered six furlongs on the tan in lmin 18sec, the last five furlongs taking lmin ssec. Wench was given steady pacework. Carawock, with a light boy up, after doing a. round at half-pace, registered lmin 34 2-ssec for seven furlongs on the tan —a useful gallop. Lake Uru, picked up by Bright Eyes at the half-mile post, covered six furlongs in lmin 18 3-ssec, the first three furlongs being covered in 39sec.

Master Sandstone and Navy Cut, both under a pull at the finish, covered six furlongs on the tan in Imin 20sec, the first two furlongs being run in 27sec. Fool's Paradise and Dubious ran seven furlongs in linin 30 2-ssec on the tan. Dubious finishing in front. It was a good even gallop, the pair reeling off furlong after furlong in practically the same time.

Merit was going easily alongside of Piquant at the end of five furlongs on the tan run in Imin 4sec, the first two taking 26sec. It was a good gallop on the part of both, as Piquant had more ground to cover than her mate. Indian Sage, alone, ran down from the half-milo post in 53£scc . Hyama, although .finishing in front of Stream over half a mile on the grass in Slsec, had none the best of the "al-

Quest t'.id useful work with Uyonotis. afterwards sprinting down the straight in his usual good style. . Dlack Cat and Grand Knight were scut to gallop half a mile in company on the tan. Black Cat began much too .brilliantly for her tuato, and at Uie end of a, lui'kug she wus live or six lengths

ahead of him. Grand Knight managed to reduce the margin by about one-half at the winning post, but it was obvious that the filly was not doing her best. The half-mile was run in 49 2-ssec. Tanadees finished in front of Quiescent in a gallop over six furlongs in lmin 18 3-6 sec.

Inoe and Peggy Ford -were given steady pacing. Both were carrying, bie weights. Salamis, Degage, and The Tank jumped off from the half-mile post. The two first-named soon left The Tank, and the first furlong was run in 12 2-ssec. At the end Salamis finished slightly in front of Degage in 48 2-ssec, The Tank being about three lengths away. Although Degage was beaten in this gallop, she is very well. She has done the most of her work at odd hours when nobody has been on the track.

Appellant, vigorously ridden, sprinted three furlongs in 37seo on the tan. Aeriform was too good for Ardfinnan m a seven-furlong gallop, which took lmm 33 3-sseo.
