HUTT POWER BOARD

THE QUESTION OF POLES. The fortnightly meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board was held yesterday. Present: Mr. J. \V. M'Ewan (chairman), and Messrs. A. J. Hobbs, H. Foley, W. H. P. Barber, H. Jay, A. W. Press, A. J. M'Curdy, and W. T. Cotton.

The Lower Hutt Progress League congratulated the board on the efficient manner in which the board had carried out the reticulation of the district. The chairman and several members remarked that it was gratifying to find the board's work appreciated.

It was reported that several contractors were much behindhand in completing their contracts for house, wiring, and it was decided to Tefuse to give fresh permits to any contractor who was behind.

The engineer reported that he had called for tenders for steel pole 6. Mr. M'Curdy : "Why has Iho engineer departed from the instructions definitely given him a fortnight ago to at once order Bates steeP poles ? This delay is going to hang upithe Plimmerton extension work for a mouth..
