Philadelphia is the principal centre in thtf United States for the manufacturing oi illegal drink from denatured alcohol ? nd Pittsburg is the centre for making illegal beer, according to a statement by the Governor in a message to the State Assembly meeting at Harrisburg. In the message he asked for passage of legislation to regulate distrilleries and breweries. He stated that if the bill were passed the sources of illicit liquor supplies in Pennsylvania would be dried UP- "I*, is a question of stopping the flood of poison drink poured out over the State and the flood of crime, misfortune, disease and death." The Governor said that 'the amount'of specially denatured alcohol produced in Philadelphia had increased from 800 000 to more than 5,000,000 gallons in two years. .
