WHALEBOAT MEMORIAL RACE.

The Star Boating Club's whaleboat memorial race was rowed in wintry weather on Saturday afternoon. Eight crews entered, and some of the finishes were exciting. As the race was instituted to commemorate the club's war service, it was appropriate that each boat was steered by a returned soldier member. Eight crews competed in heats, and the final was won by Teuton (stroke), Haldane, Woodcock, Milward, J. M. Johns,and Captain Mack (cox), who defeated Dobson (stroke), Nelson, Warnes, Jaqnes, Tucker, and Captain Robinson (cox), by two lengths. Mr. " M.. A. Turner judged the races. .
