MEETING OF TOWN BOARD.

The fortnightly meeting of the Upper HttU Town Board took place on Tuesday evening, when there were present: Commissioners M'Curdy (chairman), Biewman, Murrell, Greenwood, Greig, Jones, and Martin. The Postal' Department wrote stating that no stamp-vending machines were in stock at present. The Department of advised that it declined to contribute towards the salary of employees who carried out the duties of local noxious weeds inspectors.

The Department of Internal Affairs is to be asked to supply the Town Board with a copy of the evidence taken by the recent Borough . Commission. An endeavour is to be made to arrange a united Hutt Valley (eastward of Silverstream railway bridge) schools^ picnic, and representatives of the ten public schools within that area are to be invited to oonfer with representatives of the Town Board and the Upper Hutt Town Band with that object in view. An opinion was expressed that the proposed maternity hospital for the Hutt Valley should be located to the eastward of the Lower Hutt Borough, instead of, as suggested, in the neighbourhood of Percy's Mill in the Korokoro area.

.To prevent a recurrence ... of recent events in connection with the compilation, and revision of the local ratepayers' roll and the electors' list, the chairman of the Town Board and two other commissioners are to be appointed a committee to specially supervise the work in future.
