I\he Director of the Meteorologiba) Office (Mr. D. C. Bates) reports to-day 'that heavy rain has fallen in tho West Coast and showery conditions have been experienced elsewhere. Tho barometer has fallen everywhere, being fairly lowall over the Dominion, with tho reading at Bluff this morning (29.25 iifches) showing a further fall since yesterday. More unsettled and cloudy weather is forecasted, with rain following generally. In tho West Coast of the South Island tho rain is likely to bo heavy, with rivors rising. The baromeleq still shows a falling tendency, but is due. to rise everywhere soon. Moderate to strong northerly winds are expected to back by west to south north of New Plymouth and Napier, and westerly winds, strong to gale at times, and backing to soutberlies, are probable elsewhere.
