MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATIONS
ANNUAE CONFERENCE.

AUCKLAND, This Day. The annual conference of tho New Zealand Municipal Associations was attended by over 100 Dominion delegates, who were welcomed by Mr. ,Baildon, Deputy Mayor, in the absence of Sir James Gunson through illness. Commenting on the result of the previous conference, ~b.li. Baildon said .several hundred remits had been passed on to Parliament, and were embodied in the present law.
Mr. Tapley, Mayor of Dunedin, acknowledged, in the absence of Mr. Wright, nominated -Mr. James Felsher, Mayor of Christchurch, chairman of the conference. There was agreed to unanimously. Conference adopted the following remits : —That all fees for dangerous goods licenses be retained by the local authorities; that the Government be asked to contribute to fire boards in proportion to the value of Government buildings v' that hospital board be defined as a. local authority ; that hotel license fees be paid to municipalities; and protesting against the banks; charging 2s 6d per cent, on tho total interest under debenture coupons, whether actually paid through the biiak of u«i,j
