TO THE EDITOR, Sir,—Reading the remarks of theclergy on divorce and remarriage at the Anglican Synod in yesterday's "Post one hardly wonders the churches are °nl teilot mpt7- This is the position: a) Ins Church objects to .divorce and remarriage; (2) tfce clergy know that there are terrible hereditary diseases, such las insanity, which makes married life I a hell upon earth; (3) at the marriage ceremony no attempt is made to warn young couples that iii case of hereditary disease showing later on either side life for them wll not be a bed of roses. Tho writer would suggest that clergy should recognise the fact that only reasonable people can live happily together; that there are many couples who should never have been encouniged by the Church to have children. Yet these marriages are blessed by the officiating priest. Is it not time the Church inquired into family histories and made .some attempt to encourage only healthy reproductive marriages in the interest of the children?—l am, etc., EUGENIST. 22nd October.
