AUCKLAND, 22nd October.
The Railway Commission, 'Sir Sam Fay and Sir Vincent Raven 'and staff^ Mr. M'Villy, General Manager of Railways, and staff, and Mr,. I<V W. Furikert, heard evidence submitted by the Chamber of ' Commerce regarding Tailway matters principally of local interest. .'lt was urged that the Department 6hould issue through consignment notes from island to island, taking charge ..of. goods throughout. ... ...The need for. more sleeper accommodation on Main Trunk expresses was urged. A deputation advocated that the Department should tally goods into trucks on wharves and give a receipt'for the contents of trucks, obviating the necessity for carting goods from wharf to railway yards to obtain receipts. Complaint was made that railway weighbridges were not always accurate. '-.
