BRITISH ELECTIONS
PREMIER CRITICISED
LORD CURZON ON LABOUR'S
FAILURE
MACDONALD HELD BY
STATEMENTS.
(D.ViTED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPTRIGHT.)
(STDN2T SON CABLE.)
(Received 22nd October, 3 p.m.)
LONDON, 21st October.
Lord Curzon, speaking in London, said that it was unfair for Mr. Mac Donald to insinuate that when Labour entered office it found the wreckage of previous mistakes. "On the contrary," he said, "I had private personal assurance from each Dominion Minister attending' the Imperial Conference that he was entirely sa/isfied with the Conservative foreign policy and desired nothing better. Mr Mac Donald showed prudence and selfrestraint when he first took office. I cannot understand how such a cautious far-sighted politician suddenly committed such an astounding blunder as the Anglo-Soviet Treaty. The Bolsheviks frequently burned me 'in effigy because r maintained British rights, but a -Russian woman desired to burn a candle for mo in church. There are candles now burning for Mr. Mac Donald in Moscow. The Labour people have no conception of the Imperial idea. The Campbell case and the Anglo-Soviet Treaty show that the Government is in the hands of its own gunmen. The country will revolt against the Extremists, who pull the strings and hold the Premier m bondage.
