STEAMER ASHORE

(Received 22nd October, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The coastal steamer Casino, bound from Port Phillip He,ads to Portland, went aground off the mouth of the Kenneth River on a rocky bottom. It is believed that the rain arid the gale raging at the time obscured the light at Eagle's Nest lighthouse. The nvite and some of the crew succeeded in getting ashore with great .difficulty, and were able to spread the news of the vessel's danger. The passengers were conveyed ashore safely. The vessel is leaking. The crew are , still aboard. No fears are entertained for their safety.
